Battle of Britain Memorial detail
The Battle of Britain Memorial, located on the Victoria Embankment just north of Parliament and across from the London Eye is a monument to The Few, as Winston Chiruchill called them. The pilots, British, Canadian, Aussies, Poles and Americans, among 14 nations took to the skies against heavy odds to prevail over the might of the Luftwaffe. The monument, a high relief bronze sculpture resting upon a granite base was unveiled in 2005.
